NLDC’s Dental Radiography course is an accredited certificate by the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN). This course is for already registered dental nurses who wish to become more involved with dental hygiene, therapy and assessing diagnostic radiography.

This radiography course aims to train the dental nurse to act under prescription as an Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulation operator. The nurse will acquire the skills needed to perform safe radiography on patients. Within this course both Intra-oral and Extra-oral X-rays will be covered and protocol that IR (ME) R provides to protect the patients from the ionizing radiation will be looked at.

The course provides GDC registered nurses with experience and knowledge of using different types of X-rays. The student will learn practical skills to allow them to operate effective and safe radiography on patients.

The Dental Radiography course is a 6-month program that comprises a total of 40 hours. Moreover, all the attended days are verifiable CPD (Continuing Professional Development) hours.

A Record of Competence will be required to attend the program. You will have to complete three sections: Practical Competence Assessment Sheet, Case Studies and supplementary outcomes.

The dental nurses who are looking to be awarded must complete and satisfy the requirements of the Record of Competence and pass the written exam.

To get enrolled on our accredited Dental Nurse Course you must meet the following criteria:

• Must have your hepatitis B vaccination.
• A valid proof of ID.
• A valid visa with permission to work in the United Kingdom (non-UK resident students).
• National Insurance Number

Please be aware that it is mandatory to complete our training course before you can begin working as a Trainee Dental Nurse. To enrol on our courses we require applicants to successfully pass a initial assessment test.
